We talk Wedding looks and vintage style with Make-up & hair stylist Natasha Hall

This month we talk pouting lips and up-dos with the lovely Natasha from Pretty me Vintage.

Natasha began her career in the media industry working on Photoshoots, commercials and pop videos. Through her love of Swing dancing, music and fashion she fell in love with the vintage look!

She founded Pretty Me Vintage with an aim to recreate high quality authentic and glamorous hair and makeup from a bygone era.

1. What do you love most about your job?

I love the creative side of my job.I was brought up watch old black and white hollywood movies and have always loved vintage. Vintage hair in particular is such a creative process, there are so many different styles within the period. I love the challenge of taking so many different faces and hair types, working out a method and building a look! I never quite know how it’s going to turn out when I start and it’s wonderful seeing peoples reaction when you have finished.

2. Which era inspires you the most and why?

I think the 1940s inspires me most as I just love the glamour of it! The hollywood movie looks and the different hairstyles they wore. There are so many styles so it really gives you the freedom to be creative. Makeup wise I love the 1960s twiggy look and some of the hairstyles are really fun to recreate too!

3. What are your top tips for looking your best for your Wedding day?

My tips for makeup for your wedding would be just enough to enhance your features and say bring out your eyes, don’t over do it! Focus on maybe a bright lip or smokey eyes and not both, keep it simple and classy. I also think it’s nice to enhance the eyebrows too as this always looks great in photos! Remember if you want to kiss without transfer then you need to blot your lipstick or use a covering of lipcoat. For touch ups throughout the day ask your maid of honour or friend to keep a bit of powder on hand and a top up of lipstick!

If you have hair that will curl and stay well then you can’t beat a hollywood wave with cascades of curls however I love a stylish updo, it will stay in place all night and you can party hard without worrying about how you look at the end of the night! Choose a hairstyle that compliments your dress. If for example you have detail on the back you may want to wear your hair up so you can see it.

4. What essential beauty item do you always have in your handbag?

My most favourite thing is mascara as I love long lashesd. I use an eyelash growth serum such as revitalash which creates amazing long lashes in under a month. Then I curl with my Shu uemura eye curlers and apply a couple of coats of Benefit ‘They’re real’ mascara or, for a cheaper alternative that works for me, No Seventeen Falsify HD mascara. However I apply this a home and it stays put so I would say the most important this I always carry around is a brightly coloured lipstick! If I need a pop of colour on my cheeks as well so i don’t looked washed out I use a tiny bit of lipstick and smudge and tap on for a natural flush!

5. What’s your favourite dress from the collection and why?

I adore the flora dress, to me it conjures up thoughts of the 50s prom dresses which I love! For a long dreamy dress I would choose the Lace Empire maxy dress, the empire line flaters a lot of figures and it just had a pretty softness to it! I also love the Crystal maxi dress, the back is to die for and really brings a touch of 30s glamour! I might just have to try them all for my forthcoming wedding too!
